The forum will help shape priorities for EBLEX work with the Halal sector, as well as looking at recent consumer research and a draft halal assurance scheme.

There will also be discussion on forthcoming legislation and a look at a new slaughter education film, laying out the different methods of religious slaughter.

It is planned that the forum will meet again in the new year to review the responses to the assurance consultation and look at the main issues within the sector and where levy money can best be used to add value.

“The halal sector is a very diverse one and it is vital that we get input from all areas to enable us to come up with informed workstreams that are of real benefit to those working within it,” said John Cross, EBLEX chairman

“The whole event is designed to be open. Anyone with an interest in the sector is welcome and we hope it will lead to some constructive conversations that we can use to shape our activity.”

The forum will take place at the Chesford Grange hotel on October 24, from 1pm to 5pm.
