Government Bullish About Livestock Sector and Export Trading

16 July 2013

PARAGUAY – The Ministry of Agriculture Livestock and Supply has praised private and public sector bodies for the great progress seen in the cattle industry with bullish predictions for this year’s milk and beef trades.

Rody Godoy, Minister of Agriculture has announced that he expects beef exports to exceed US$1,500 million.

Dairy production was also highlighted as an export possibility with production outstripping national consumption figures.

He said that Bolivia and Peru were now buying powdered milk, a new revenue stream for the country.

Mr Godoy said: "The production of some items we can export the year round is important and the public and private sector need to be thanked for working with the government.”

"We now have a dairy sovereignty in our country, we are exporting domestic milk powder to the markets of Bolivia and Peru," he added.
