Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Thursday that the US decision to halt cattle imports from Mexico again over the flesh-eating screwworm pest was "exaggerated", reported Reuters

"From our point of view, it is a totally exaggerated decision to close the border again," Sheinbaum said in her morning press conference, following the US decision after screwworm advanced closer to its border with Mexico.

She added that the closure had been prompted by one new case of screwworm in Mexico.
