Strong beef exports lift Brazil’s cattle sector in 2025
Foreign sales climb 27% as domestic prices edge lowerBeef exports continue to play a key role in sustaining prices across Brazil’s livestock sector, with foreign demand remaining strong in 2025, according to a recent market report from Cepea.
From January to June, international beef sales generated $7.2 billion in revenue—up 27% from the first half of 2024, based on Secex data. The gain reflects a 12.5% rise in export volume and a 12.7% increase in the average price per tonne.
In June alone, export revenue rose 50% year-over-year, driven by a 23% increase in volume and a 22% gain in price.
Meanwhile, domestic market activity remained sluggish in mid-July, putting pressure on prices. From June 30 to July 15, wholesale beef carcass values in Greater São Paulo dropped 4.85%, averaging BRL 20.97/kg on July 15. Over the same period, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for fed cattle in São Paulo State fell 5.29% to BRL 300.60.
