Public health and veterinary experts have now started an investigation into the outbreak which is centred on four farms in the East of the county.
It is understood that around 40 cattle have already died as a result of the disease, although this number has not been officially confirmed.

Botulism is caused by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and is commonly found in soil, it is potentially dangerous to humans if it finds its way into the food chain.
