NCBA Applauds Nomination of Doud to USTR Post
US - Last Friday, US President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate personnel to key administrative posts, among which Gregory Doud of Kansas has been nominated to be Chief Agricultural Negotiator, with the Rank of Ambassador to the United States Trade Representative (USTR).

Mr Doud is the current President of the Commodity Markets Council, where he has served since 2013. Prior to that, he was a senior Professional Staff member of the Senate Agriculture Committee for Senator Pat Roberts and Senator Thad Cochran.
While working for the Senate Agriculture Committee, Mr Doud assisted in drafting the 2012 Senate Farm Bill, along with legislation regarding many other issues. He also spent eight years as the Chief Economist for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA). He has also worked for the US Wheat Associates and the World Perspectives firm.
Colin Woodall, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for the NCBA, yesterday released a statement in response to Mr Doud’s nomination, saying: "Gregg has been a friend and colleague for many years, and I can testify first-hand that America’s cattlemen and women will be well-served by having Gregg at the table as agricultural trade deals are hammered out. The US Senate should confirm his nomination as soon as possible.
"Gregg was NCBA’s chief economist for eight years, and he understands as well as anybody the importance of exports for our industry. As important trade negotiations take place over NAFTA and hopefully a bilateral agreement with Japan, we look forward to working with Gregg and his team to ensure that the voice of American beef producers is heard loud and clear."
