Mr. Wattie spoke to a group of agricultural journalists at his farm near Mains of Tonley, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, about how his dad's decision to buy a few Aberdeen-Angus cattle changed their operation.

"My dad decided to buy Aberdeen-Angus, and I have to say I was a wee bit concerned," he said. "He bought three cows in England and they were a bit more traditional. And before long, I was hooked on them as well."

A selection shown below, Wattie's pedigreed herd is award-winning, and their stock all rank in the top third (or higher) in terms of performance.
