Brazilian Beef Plants Under Egyptian Scrutiny

28 January 2014

EGYPT - A delegation of slaughterhouse inspectors began a 17 day long visit of Brazilian beef processing facilities on Sunday.

The visit will take in Rondonia, Mato Grosso, Mat Grosso do Sul, Goias and Minas Gerias and run until 13 February.

The visit marks an important stage in nurturing trade relations with Egypt, the Brazilian farm minister said.

"In recent months, Brazil has achieved significant market openings and will hopefully get even more positive results in this regard,” said the minister for Agriculture Livestock and Supply, Rodrigo Figueiredo.

Last year, Brazilian exports to Egypt grossed $643.9 million in meat sales and $1.6 billion in agribusiness products.
