Stringent epidemiological monitoring has confirmed two more focus areas of bovine brucellosis around the village of Cermak in the community of Monte Oscuro, reports ANPanama.

Earlier outbreaks in the region have received veterinary responses and now cattle await slaughter under inspection.

Blood samples from 400 herds have indicated three farms are heavily infected, of which, two are dairy holdings with a combined herd of 600.

Effect on milk production has been limited as pasteurisation has allowed for milk to remain sellable.
