February Figures Show Another 3000 TB Cullings

UK – Another 6,000 cattle have been slaughtered due to tuberculosis so far in 2013, new Defra figures have shown.

Statistics for February show a further 3,105 cullings due mycobacterium bovis infections. In total 911 new holdings became infected through the month. This represents a reduction following a severe year on year increase noted in January.

Herds officially free of tb came to 14,895 FOR January and February, this is up on the figure for the same period last year, by almost 200.
