One-stop-shop: Orange Meat Profit Day
AUSTRALIA - Livestock producers looking for an insight into the latest on-farm research, global red meat trends and marketing initiatives should head to the Orange Meat Profit Day on Wednesday 12 November.Organised by Meat & Livestock Australia, in conjunction with a committee of local producers, the Orange Meat Profit Day is designed to help producers build their profits and prepare for future challenges.
The family-friendly day will be a combination of a field day, conference, and trade show and will include a number of speaker sessions grouped by specific topics, including:
- MSA – the essential ingredient: get insights from a processor on why they use MSA; hear a producer’s experience of supplying animals into MSA; learn how you can influence a guaranteed eating experience for the consumer.
- Challenge, change, profit: hear from fellow producers who have faced and managed change over time. What have they learnt? How are they feeling about their enterprise?
- Who’s buying?: discover what drives the demand for red meat; uncover the opportunities for Australian beef, lamb and goat in South East Asia/Chinas.
- Goats – never boering! (a specialist module for goat producers): how to produce for the goat meat and live export markets, and the challenges that you may encounter.
The special guest and keynote speaker on the day will be the Chief of the Executive Committee of the Russian National Meat Association, Sergey Yushin, who will provide an insight into the emerging Russian red meat market.
The Orange Meat Profit Day’s Chairman, Hamish Munro said the event’s program will include practical information presented by renowned industry speakers and livestock producers from the local region and across NSW.
“The day will provide an ideal opportunity for cattle, sheep and goat producers to gain first-hand knowledge of the latest research and new production techniques, and to speak with industry leaders, researchers and scientists,” Mr Munro said.
“Of course, the social aspect of the day is just as important and enjoyable as the learning side, creating a rare opportunity for local producers to catch up with other producers in the area”.
The Meat Profit Day will be held at the Australian National Field Days site outside of Orange, and will be followed by the MLA AGM at the Orange Civic Theatre the following day. A casual on-site dinner will follow the Meat Profit Day. Child care facilities will also be available on the day.
