Welsh site linked to foot-and-mouth farm

WALES - A site in Wales is under investigation after it was linked to the Surrey farm with the latest case of foot-and-mouth disease, it emerged today.

The Welsh assembly government said it could not disclose the location of the premises, but stressed there was no sign of infection.

It was being examined as part of a routine tracing exercise, officials said.

Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones said Wales remained vulnerable to the disease when she made a statement to the Assembly in Cardiff Bay.

She said: “The latest infected premises confirmed today has a tracing to Wales, which is under investigation.
