The shocking reason for their discontent is the fact they are being shocked by a man-made electrcial problem knwn as tingle voltage or stray voltage.

So much electricty is moving through outdated rural power lines that some of that power is leaking into the ground and into barns and jolting the cattle.

It is such a widespread problem that London Area Liberal MPP and farmer Maria Van Bommel has introduced a private members bill to force utilities to upgrade their lines.

She says dairy cattle, because of their large bulk, seem to be impacted the most by this stray voltage and the constant shocking causes them to drink less and producing less milk.

Van Bommel says in some cases the constant exposure to the tingle voltage has resulted in the cattle aborting their calves.
