Driving the shipments to Indonesia in September was the volume of frozen beef, soaring 23 per cent year-on-year to 6,042 tonnes swt. Manufacturing beef was the dominant cut sent to the market, surging 28 per cent on a year earlier to 2,663 tonnes swt. Blade (857 tonnes swt) and knuckle (669 tonnes swt) shipments both registered a new monthly record during September.

Australian beef exports to Indonesia during January to September increased five per cent compared with the same period in 2009, to 36,249 tonnes swt, this is a new record for the nine month period.

Boosted by the trade to Indonesia, shipments of Australian beef to South East Asia and Greater China during September increased three per cent on September 2009 to 13,461 tonnes swt. Beef exports to the region over the first nine months of the year totalled 97,557 tonnes swt (up nine per cent year-on-year), potential leading to a new annual record.
