US and Mexico to inaugurate joint screwworm fly plant
Sterile insect facility seen as key weapon against flesh-eating pest
Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Thursday that US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins will be present at the inauguration of a sterile fly plant in Mexico, a key tool in the fight against the flesh-eating screwworm parasite, reported Reuters.
The inauguration of the plant, a jointly-funded project by the US and Mexico, is scheduled for Saturday in the southern border state of Chiapas, Sheinbaum added.
