Wholesale prices for beef carcass in Greater São Paulo fell 2.04% between June 30 and July 14, while special pork carcass prices dropped 0.82% and chilled chicken values rose 0.98%, according to Brazil's Centre for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (Cepea).

Cepea attributed the decline in beef and pork to moderate domestic demand in the first half of July, when restocking activity is typically slower. In the cattle market, lower live cattle prices and difficulty passing higher costs through to retail have limited trading. However, tighter supplies of finished cattle and strong export performance have prevented more significant price falls.

Pork prices remain under pressure from weak domestic demand despite firm export activity.

Chicken has outperformed the other proteins, benefiting from consumers shifting toward lower-cost options, which has kept demand firm.
