Brazil cattle slaughter up 11% this year

According to the quarterly livestock report from Brazil's Agência de Notícias (IBGE), cattle slaughter is up 11.0% this year and 12.3% in the quarter.

In the 2nd quarter of 2023, 8.25 million head of cattle were slaughtered under some kind of sanitary inspection. This is an increase of 11.0% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2022 and an increase of 12.3% compared to the 1st quarter of 2023.

Bovine carcass production reached 2.14 million tons in the 2nd quarter of 2023, which is a 9.5% increase over the same quarter last year and a 12.6% increase compared to the 1st quarter of 2023.
