Queensland herds bolstered by NT cattle

AUSTRALIA - A north-west Queensland livestock agent says the Northern Territory is supplying growing numbers of cattle to Queensland feedlots and abattoirs.

Graham Stretton says the extra cattle are helping to supply lucrative export markets like Japan.

He says local herds that were depleted because of the drought are being bolstered by cattle from central Australia and the Barkly Tablelands.

"The price in Queensland is fluctuating a little bit there, but the market's pretty high compared to the Northern Territory when you're going to export," he said.
