New BSE case detected

One new case of BSE was discovered in Ireland this week, according to figures released today by the Department of Agriculture. The disease was detected in a 14-year-old dairy cow in Co Cavan. A total of 105 BSE cases have been detected in Ireland so far this year, compared to 159 in the same period last year and 285 in the equivalent period in 2002.
