Families' fury as the BSE safeguards are lifted

UK - The crisis over 'mad cow' disease was officially declared over yesterday - to the dismay of grieving families. Ministers are to lift a ban on the eating of meat from older animals, which was previously seen as a key safeguard. But relatives of some of the 141 British victims fear this will put more lives at risk. They suggested the Government is more interested in saving money as millions of pounds have to be spent slaughtering animals and compensating farmers.
