QMS - Quality Meat Scotland

Around 15,000 buyers from Canada, the USA, and 60 other countries attend SIAL Canada (2-4 May 2017) where Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), which will be part of the Scottish Development International (SDI) stand, will enjoy a strong presence.

Samples of top quality Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb will be available for potential buyers to savour at the event where QMS will be promoting the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status of Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb, along with the guarantees of quality assurance, provenance and welfare that underpin the brands.

A number of Scotland’s red meat exporters will then fly the flag for Scotch Beef PGI and Scotch Lamb PGI at Hofex (8-11 May) - Asia’s leading food and hospitality tradeshow which attracts over 50,000 buyers from across the Asia region.

Laurent Vernet, Head of Marketing with QMS, who is attending both shows, said that both the Canadian and Hong Kong markets offer significant potential for Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb sales growth in the coming years.

“With the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada commencing on 1 July, it is important that Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb are top of mind with influential buyers. SIAL Canada is the perfect place to conduct business with these individuals.

“Hong Kong is another important, premium market for the Scottish red meat industry with real scope to further grow business as buyers look for natural and extensive production methods, along with grass-fed diets which the Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb brands can offer.”
