Greece Destroys 200 Cattle After Lumpy Skin Disease Flare-up

GREECE – Two hundred cattle have been destroyed due to lumpy skin disease in eastern Greece following fourteen animals testing positive across two separate holdings.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has reported the disease in Anatoliki Makedonia Kai Thraki but states the source of infection is unknown.

A raft of measures are in place to control the disease, including surveillance and screening; vector control, zoning and screening.

Movement controls are also in place but the OIE said vaccination is prohibited.
