Foot and Mouth Spreads in Botswana

BOTSWANA - Further outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease have been discovered in Botswana, on cattle farms adjacent to an earlier outbreak.

There were six cases out of a susceptible population of 1116 village cattle.

In a second outbreak, there were 13 cases on a farm holding 4493 cattle.

Both the outbreaks were situated in Ngamiland province. The original cause of Foot and Mouth in the area is thought to be contact with wild species.
