Trade routes to Viet Nam and Hong Kong have seen 187.25 metric tons of beef shipped since July 2013, a spokesman said last week.

These opportunities enable vendors to ship offal and varied cuts, a feature that should be developed, according to Dr Rafael Nunez Mieses, national slaughterhouse project director.

He said: "We are on track to meet the goal of President Danilo Medina in turning the country into an exporter, thanks to conditions favouring geographical location, excellent microclimate and food availability to feed livestock that we provide facility to produce enough for the country and the world."
