Drought Kills Over 7,000 Cattle in North West China

CHINA – Over seven thousand cattle have perished from a prolonged drought in North West China.

The losses, calculated at 7,700, are part of 3.46 million head of livestock to be affected across the region, which has had half of it usual summer rainfall, reports China Daily.

Concerns over winter survival due to fodder destruction are now surfacing with over 287,000 hectares of cropland and extensive pastureland damaged.

Provincial governments have partitioned 10 million yuan for irrigation and well digging and water transportation.
