Diagnostic tests have confirmed an absence of the two diseases from the islands, to the north of Colombia.

Cattle movement and vaccination measures have been issued for the region, which will ban all cattle coming in from brucellosis and bovine tuberculosis positive districts.

Luis Humberto Martinez Lacouture (ICA) general manager spoke of the commitment in the safe and responsible handling of the cattle.

“The simultaneous declaration of San Andrés as being free of two diseases should be used as a healthcare model to be used by the industry to expand disease free zones and help health status.”

Eradication of the six other regions is hoped to be achieved by 2025.
