Another FMD Outbreak in Russia
RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported another outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Priargunsky District affecting more cattle, pigs and sheep/goats.
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 13 on Friday, 27 September.
A total of 483 cattle showed signs of susceptibility, out of which three cases were reported. In the case of pigs, 130 animals were found susceptible, out of which four cases were reported. In both cases, no deaths were reported and no animals were destroyed.
According to the OIE, the epidemiological investigation is currently under way. An FMD outbreak has been reported in the area situated 8 kilometers from China-Russia border.
The source of the outbreak(s) remains inconclusive.
