09 May 2013

VENEZUELA – Another shipment of heifers has arrived from Nicaragua in the latest allocation of livestock in a bilateral agreement between the two countries as part of the national policy AgroVenezuela.

This is hoped to invigorate livestock production as part of the agrarian policies of ex-leader commander Chavez. In total 781, high quality, dual purpose heifers have arrived in the sea port of Puerto Cabello.

A further 1000 head are expected in the coming months to reach the agreement target of 6000. Currently at 5000 the cattle were picked by method of a four month selection process.

Currently, big changes have been seen in the Unare river basin with the overall goal being to meet rising food demand from Orinoco Oil Belt.
