Government Bumps Up Breeding Regulations

RUSSIA – Livestock breeders face government changes to breeding rules hoped to improve relations between stock-men and regulate Russian pedigree breeding.

The new law will distinguish an official body within the Russian Federation to deal with livestock breeding.

Livestock breeders will have to register pedigree animals and herds of breeding animals and the information will then be logged into a national information system.

Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Breeding, Vladimir Labinov said: “Specialised research institutions, unions and associations are continuously working to improve the current regulations for all types of farm animals.”
