OIE: Several Cases of Lumpy Skin Disease Reported in Israel

ISRAEL - Dr Nadav Galon, Director, Veterinary Services and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported 11 Cases of Lumpy Skin Disease in north east Israel area.

The Golan and Tsefat regions have been reported as having cases.

Golan Sindyana East, Qeshet, Aniam, Yonatan and Moram Golan.

Tsefat Sha'al, Kanaf, Dishon, Dishon East, Bnot Yaakov Bridge and Dafna.

The report details that 2,884 cattle are susceptible to the disease and that so far there have been 143 cases, 10 deaths and two animals have been destroyed.

Currently movement control inside the country, screening and vaccination have been the measures taken to control the spread of the condition. With dipping and spraying unaffected stock being methods of control available to farmers.
