Editorial: USDA needs to switch gears on BSE
US - Last week the U.S. Agriculture Department admitted that its testing options for mad cow disease were limited to only one type of test in 2 percent of cases in the last 14 months. We are not waving a panic flag over bovine spongiform encephalophathy (BSE), also known as mad cow disease, but we are concerned that the USDA is slow to adapt aggressive policies that will ensure the safety of Kansas beef and its consumers.Source: Winfield Courier
