Drought-Affected Cattle Farmers Cutting Their Losses
AUSTRALIA - Cattle producers in south-east New South Wales are cutting their losses and selling breeding stock after two years of drought feeding.

Victorian producers were the main buyers of 2000 cattle at Bega yesterday, in the latest in the series of drought store cattle sales reports ABC Rural.
Livestock agent Stewart Smith says the drought is intensifying in spring as erratic, hot, windy, dry weather forces producers to destock entire properties.
"There are a lot of very difficult decisions now being made, unfortunately,' he says.
"People have spent a lot of money over the past 18 months, and people have just financially, mentally and physically had enough.
"Money that has been spent on hay the last two years has just gone out the window, whether you spent AU$5000 or AU$100,000, it has gone. Unfortunately it is dead money."
