07 September 2009

UK - Jim Fitzpatrick, DEFRA minister, will officially open the Dairy Event and Livestock Show at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry on Wednesday 16 September. The two-day event is run by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF).

Mr Fitzpatrick will tour the showground, meet with farmers and trade exhibitors and view the cattle lines, where 240 stalls for six different breeds have been booked out.

International guests from as far as China and Romania are expected to be among the 13,000 visitors. Nick Everington, the chief executive of RABDF said, "The event offers a major opportunity for our exhibitors to showcase the UK’s highly advanced and technological industry, and our range of exhibitions covering all aspects of ruminant production, beef, sheep, commercial goats and native breeds, as well as dairy, enhances its appeal to all visitors."

HSBC, the event's principal sponsor believe that attending the show will give the new minister a full understanding of the key issues within the UK dairy and livestock sectors.

The Dairy Event and Livestock Show is on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry.
