More Live Cattle to Indonesia
AUSTRALIA - Indonesia will have taken over 600,000 head of live cattle this year. The Northern Territory Cattleman's Association, believe that the market could quite easily handle one million cattle per year.Exports from northern Australia are up over 90,000 head this year from 2007, reports Farming UK.
Luke Bowen from the association, said "In terms of size, there are 220 million people of which 20 million are in the high income bracket, so the fundamentals are there, as long as we have no financial hiccups with the global financial crisis".
Long term, the north looks well positioned and the sale of the Packer Consolidated Pastoral 17 cattle stations could prove the be the "Buy of the Century", according to Association.
