Scotland's Red Meat at Heart of Nation

05 September 2008

UK - A campaign highlighting Scotch Beef as one of Scotland’s best loved foods has been launched in Dundee.

The beefy brand icon will be donning his kilt for a personal appearance at Tesco in Kingsgate, Dundee today between 1pm and 1.30 to help launch the company’s Scotland’s Favourites promotion this weekend.

Tesco is running a campaign highlighting and promoting Scotland's best loved products such as Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork, as well as iconic brands such as Irn-bru, Highland Spring water and Shortbread, in a bid to celebrate the wide variety of products coming from this country

Suzie Carlaw, Marketing Manager for Quality Meat Scotland said: “We’re welcoming this initiative, which shows that Scottish red meat continues to be at the heart of the locally sourced offering in this retailer.

“As people increasingly look to buy high quality and local produce promotions such as this are really giving the Scottish public exactly what they want.“

Five ‘Glen’ brand ambassadors will be going into the Tesco Extra stores in Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow on Saturday to hand out recipes to consumers and give them purchasing advice.
