UK: Call for Major FMD Shake-up
UK - The Scottish and UK governments have been urged to renegotiate arrangements to prevent a repeat of the financial problems that emerged during last year's foot-and-mouth outbreak.The recommendations are among 55 put forward by the former UK chief vet and Moredun Foundation chairman John Ross in a report which praises the Scottish Government's handling of fallout from last year's outbreak at the Pirbright research site in Surrey and which cost the Scottish livestock sector more than £100million.
