Cattle Futures - Live Cattle Finish Uneven

US - CME live cattle posted an uneven finish. April through August ended steady to higher on fund buying and forward spreading that was associated with traders settling accounts before the weekend.

Meanwhile, other cattle contracts landed in mildly negative territory when participants bailed out of back months, especially after CBOT corn's early-session sharp gains deteriorated, and bought front-month options.

Beef futures opened mostly firm in response to Thursday's cash strength and profitable estimated beef packer margins.

Live-basis fed cattle moved this week at $92 to $93 per hundredweight, which surpassed last week's sales by as much as $3.
