The first shipment of 1,600 cattle will be carried out this week from the port of Sao Sebastiao on the northern coast of the State of Sao Paulo, and a further three shipments are expected in the second half of the year, report Macauhub.

“The war practically wiped out the herds in Angola and we are helping to repopulate them.” Muguidjana director, Frederico Alberto Rosseto, told financial newspaper Valor Económico.

The cattle exported to Angola are from a farm in the city of Glicério in the interior of Sao Paulo state, a unit which is responsible for genetic improvement research of the Portuguese group.

In Angola, the cattle will be distributed to the properties that the Portuguese groups has in the provinces of Kuanza Sul and Malange.

The Portuguese group, which has been present in Brazil since 2002, has four rural properties in the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, dedicated to breeding beef cattle.
