Last week the Farm Security minister, Inácio Kroetz, signed an agreement with the Spanish farm minister in Madrid on the approval of the sanitary arrangements to export beef from Brazil to Spain.

The two countries have established a working group to look at traceability and animal identification to support the beef trade.

The two countries have had an agreement over beef exports since 2005 and over the last year Brazil exported beef worth $152.3 million - 59.7 tonnes, up from the 47.1 tonnes the previous year.
