Marfrig has acquired 70.51 per cent of the Argentine cold storage firm for $140.875 million and also the Uruguayan company, Estabelecimentos Colônia s.a, for $85.531.

The two companies belong to the Argentine family Bameules.

Marfrig had already bought two Argentine companies - Best Beef s.a. and Ranches del Sur, for $39.3 million at the end of October.

The purchase of Quickfood is part of Marfrig's policy to establish itself as a beef company across South America. It now has four beef slaughterhouses in Argentina and three in Uruguay as well as the nine slaughterhouses in Brazil.

The new acquisitions raise Marfrig's slaughter capacity by 55 per cent.
