The Agriculture and Forestry Ministry plans to commit W4.2 billion (US$1=W926) this year to expand the system, now in testing.

The system records and manages the breeding and distribution history of some 650,000 beef cattle in the country.

Once in place, it will allow for a swifter response to outbreaks of disease. It will also let consumers know the source of their beef cuts.
