Canada to Promote Beef in Taiwan

AUSTRALIA - Following the arrival of the first Canadian beef container in Taiwan, the Canadian Beef Export Federation (CBEF) has planed promotions with all major beef importers and their key clients in the market (Meatingplace.com).

The promotion will begin with the next arrival of an ocean consignment, which is anticipated to land within 10 days.

CBEF is expecting Canadian beef to recapture its market share in Taiwan. Nonetheless, imports of Canadian beef prior to the 2003 ban on Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy accounted for only 3% of the total imported beef trade in Taiwan. As Canadian beef exports to Taiwan must include boneless meat derived from cattle less than 30 month of age, shipments to the market are expected to remain relatively small.
