UFU President Kenneth Sharkey said; “The UK foot and mouth outbreak has reminded us all about the serious impact a disease outbreak can have on our industry and the economy. It is totally unacceptable that we continue to import beef from Brazil where the disease is endemic. We will be continuing to press the EU Commission on this”. The UFU and IFA discussed the issue at a meeting in Dublin.
