BSE confirmed but will not affect border
CANADA - A new case of mad cow disease was confirmed in Alberta over the weekend, but officials are saying it will not affect the beef and cattle export industry. The Canada Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) confirmed bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) was found over the weekend in a six-year-old cow born and raised on an Alberta farm, but with the thorough surveillance system, it was not surprising. “It’s disappointing, but not unexpected,” said Erik Butters, vice chair of Alberta Beef Producers.Source: Cochrane Times
