Mr Brown said the special AgForce interactive cattle forum would feature the who’s who of the beef industry and enable producers to not only hear from the industry’s top movers and shakers but also be encouraged to outline their thoughts about the opportunities and challenges of the next decade.

“We’ve all heard about the nation’s beef industry needing a vision in the lead up to the year 2020 and this forum is the perfect opportunity to learn the latest on where the industry is heading at a state, national and international level,’’ he said.

“It’s also a great opportunity for grassroots producers to raise any concerns or ideas directly with those key industry and representative decision makers.”

Mr Brown said top level guests at the interactive forum in Emerald this coming Monday, March 26 included Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) chairman Don Heatley, MLA CEO David Palmer, Cattle Council of Australia (CCA) president Bill Bray and CCA CEO David Inall.

“Everything will be on the table for discussion: research, marketing, international competition, domestic challenges, emerging markets and much more,” he said.

“It’s vital Queensland beef producers have their chance to help chart the direction for this country’s beef industry as we head for 2020.

“Queensland is Australia’s largest beef producing state with more than 40 per cent (11 million) of the national herd so the future of the industry is key to the continued prosperity of many rural areas.”

Mr Brown said the forum would be followed by a barbecue dinner where attendees would have the chance to talk one on one with the special guests and AgForce Cattle directors.

“This forum is a great opportunity for all beef producers to have their say on the future of their industry and given the high calibre of our guests, it’s one not to be missed.”
