Some 4 million vaccinations were administered free of charge, he said, adding that Venezuela plans to set up dozens of animal health laboratories in the nation.

Foot-and-mouth disease affects animals with clove hooves such as cattle, pigs, deer, goats and sheep. The virus can be spread between animals, through the air and on clothing.
