A subsidy of UAH3.3 (EUR0.50) per kilo liveweight will be paid for every heifer that a livestock farm purchases from a private farm in order to increase its livestock numbers.

Enterprises that have built or restored livestock farms and that did not own cattle at the start of this year but have purchased at least 50 cows or heifers will receive a subsidy of UAH3,000 (USD595) for every animal purchased.

A large number of other types of subsidies, all with the aim of encouraging livestock production, have also been introduced. Funding for the subsidies will come from the state budget for this year.
