Light to mid-weight heifers took the biggest hit. 300-400 pound heifers fell $3 per hundredweight. Heifers between 400 and 700 pounds were down $2. Heavy heifers rose between $1 and $2 per hundredweight.

Just over 13,000 head of feeder cattle were sold at Saskatchewan auction markets last week. That compares to 19,000 the previous week.

Feeder cattle exports to the United States took a signficant jump during the week ending January 27th, with just under 12,000 head moving south. Sask Ag and Food Beef Economist Sandy Russell says weather permitting, feeder cattle volumes should increase in the coming weeks.
