Australia eager to pinch-hit for U.S. beef

JAPAN - Food retailers and restaurants, scrambling to make up for the loss of U.S. beef following its ban four weeks ago, have found a willing alternate supplier in Australia.
The Australian government said last week that it was capable of increasing its beef production by about 50,000 tons to meet anticipated growth in demand from Japan.
