AUSTRALIA - Supply doubles

Nationally, numbers at MLA’s NLRS reported saleyards doubled compared to the same time last week. The return to a full trading week in all states and no respite from the continuing dry seasonal conditions have been the major factors behind the increases.

NSW and SA were four times larger, Victoria yarded 33% more while QLD, WA and TAS were similar to the previous week. Wodonga, Wagga and Shepparton again provided large numbers, whilst Gunnedah also had a big sale.

Feed availability is becoming a concern in all states, with grain prices continuing to rise and lucerne hay not as abundant as previous years.

Prices collapse

Over the hooks cattle quotes were lowered in all states except WA and Tasmania.
